I am one of two Subject Advisors for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences and am available to provide help, advice, training, support and documentation to students and staff undertaking research, project work, essays and/or dissertations. Support is provided in the form of one-to-one appointments.
These are arranged at a mutually convenient time and may be conducted in person, via email, over the phone or via Skype. Through these I aim to give students the confidence to use library and information resources independently to enhance their academic experience and achievement.
Help available includes:
An introduction to library service and resources
Helping to identify basic training in key databases and information sources in given subject area(s)
Explanation of the principles of literature searching
Troubleshooting complex/systematic literature reviews
Introduction to referencing software
Helping to keep students up to date with research
