I am an Academic Skills Advisor based in the Main Library and am available to provide help, advice, training, support and documentation to Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate students undertaking research, project work, essays and/or dissertations. Support is provided in the form of one-to-one appointments.

These are arranged at a mutually convenient time and may be conducted in person, via email, or via Zoom. Through these I aim to enable students to develop all aspects of academic writing and study skills to enhance their academic experience and achievement. If you require an appointment please fill in the Online Booking on the ASC intranet including details of what training support you require and your availability.
Help available includes:
An introduction to library service and resources
Helping to identify basic training in key databases and information sources
Explanation of the principles of literature searching
Troubleshooting complex/systematic literature reviews
Introduction to referencing software
Helping to keep students up to date with research
Please note we do not offer a proof reading service
