I am one of two Subject Advisors for the College of Life & Environmental Sciences and am available to provide help, advice, training, support and documentation to students and staff undertaking research, project work, essays and/or dissertations. Support is provided in the form of one-to-one appointments.
These are arranged at a mutually convenient time and may be conducted in person, via email, over the phone or via Skype. Through these I aim to give students the confidence to use library and information resources independently to enhance their academic experience and achievement.
Help available includes:
An introduction to library service and resources
Helping to identify basic training in key databases and information sources in given subject area(s)
Explanation of the principles of literature searching
Troubleshooting complex/systematic literature reviews
Introduction to referencing software
Helping to keep students up to date with research
