Activity 4B: RefWorks - Adding Results (Ovid databases)

How to export results from Medline into RefWorks:

  1. Carry out your search on Medline, or on another Ovid database such as Embase or PsycInfo
  2. Select individual results or the whole page [All], tick the boxes by the items you wish to save, and select Export.
    • In the pop-up box, select - RefWorks - Complete Citation to export to RefWorks
    • You may need to "Click this link to open the document" in Medline to remove the pop-up blocker
  3. On the next screen, choose RefWorks (blue logo) to export results
  4. This should open RefWorks in the default "Last Imported" folder
  5. You can then transfer these to a named folder - use "Assign to folder" (folder icon at top) and "Create" to name and set up a folder

The following 3 screenshots illustrate the steps involved.

For more information about folders in RefWorks, see the supplier guide page on Managing References.

For information about exporting from PubMed to RefWorks, see the Ex Libris Knowledgebase article.  Ovid Medline in fact has the same actual content, so University users are recommended to use Medline, as above.
