CINAHL and RefWorks: Tutorial

Activity: RefWorks

NB: When using any referencing software for citations and bibliographies, remember to proof-read and to be aware of the essentials of referencing guidelines in the system recommended for your course (the main ones for MDS subjects are  Harvard and Vancouver).

RefWorks is a web-based tool to help make referencing easier. It has two big advantages. Firstly, it allows you to gather, manage and store your references and secondly it interacts with Word allowing you to easily create citations and reference lists in the style (such as Harvard Cite them Right) that you require.

  • Go to RefWorks (FindIt record: then open up the link)
  • Should the link above not work, search for the RefWorks (database) on FindIt
  • There is also a direct link if you have a RefWorks account already

Register for RefWorks as follows (unless you have done so already):

  • Click on 'Create account' under the search bars
  • Then enter your University e-mail address and select 'Check'
  • Think of and enter a password
  • An activation link should be emailed to  your Uni inbox. Find this and accept
  • Complete the pop-up  form with your details: you will then have a RefWorks Account
