Go to FindIt@Bham - and sign in at the top right with your University login (username and password).

  • In the drop-down menu on the right of the search bar, select "Library Catalogue"
  • Search for books or articles as below

Search for the book / ebook "Nursing: the ultimate study guide (Singh)"

  • Find the latest edition, and browse the contents pages of the ebook (ie the online copy)

Now select the Advanced Search option by the right of the main search bar.

  • In the drop-down menu, select Article Search.

  • Search for a topic using 2 or 3 keywords, or try the following search in the on-screen search bars:

Influenza (epidemic or pandemic)

Academic or University or Student

  • AND is a Boolean operator in the drop-down to the left of the second search bar.  AND narrows a search to material that is about both descriptors in the two lines, not just one or other.   Boolean operators can also be used within a search line: typically, as in the second line. OR is used to bring similar descriptors together in one broader group (either / or): hence, academic OR university OR student

  • Note the filters on the right of the list of results.  Try using, for example, Reviews under Type

Favourites in FindIt?

  • Note that you can click the pin icon to the right of any result in FindIt, to save it to your Favourites.

  • Then select the pin icon at the top right of the screen to view these Favourites.

  • These will be visible as long as you are signed in to FindIt with your University login.
