The Peart Collection is located in The School of Geography and houses a collection of approximately 500,000 sheet maps, 1,500 atlases, map related publications, travel guides and gazetteers. It is not part of Library Services but it is open to all members of the University of Birmingham. The Map Library's holdings are not listed on FindIt@Bham.
The collection includes:
- Historic maps covering Birmingham and the West Midlands region dating from the early 17th century.
- Pamphlets, gazetteers and books related to Birmingham and the West Midlands
- Ordnance Survey maps from the earliest editions to the present day, with a focus on the West Midlands area
- A comprehensive atlas collection
- A wide range of sheet maps, including examples from round the world
- Books about maps and mapmaking
