Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM)

Databases by subject area

Introduction

Bibliographic databases are the core resource for locating relevant material in searches relating to EBM.  These generally require institutional subscriptions for access.

PubMed, Cochrane and Epistemonikos are openly accessible on the internet, but access to full text of articles may still depend on institutional subscriptions.

For information relating to database searching, with worked examples, see the Academic Skills Centre's guide to Literature searching for Medical and Dental Sciences

The following databases are grouped by general subject area and include short descriptions. If you are a student or staff member of the University of Birmingham, you can access the subscription databases in this section by using the links in each box.  These open in FindIt@Bham (remember to sign in and confirm your UoB ID).
