For details and overview of referencing software at the University of Birmingham, and openly available software:

EndNote Online helps you to manage references, storing the core details and links for items such as journal articles, books, web pages.  The Cite While You Write plugin connects Word documents with the stored references, enabling the insertion of in-text citations and reference lists.  EndNote Online is web-based and available by setting up an account with the Web of Science database platform.

EndNote Desktop is a separate product which is recommended at UoB for PhD students / PGRs, post-doctoral researchers and University staff. It is supported for those users by the Research Skills Team. (Referencing Software - UoB iCite Guide page).
